Both keep projects, run things on a schedule, and build little tools with no code, and OpenAI is now folding its own apps into a single "super app" to keep pace with Anthropic.
All the attention goes to the flashy features, but the one that ends up changing your week is the dullest thing on the menu.

The handoff
It comes down to two features both apps share, and neither requires you to write code.
The first is a scheduled task. You say what you want in plain English, set how often, and it goes off and does it whether the app is open or not.
Think a news brief sitting ready at 7am, or a little watcher that taps you on the shoulder the moment something you track shifts.
The second one is fun because you teach it by doing the task instead of describing it.
On ChatGPT today you flip on a recording, run through the job once at your normal pace, and it writes the steps back to you as a skill you can use again.
Just before it saves, it asks a couple of sharp questions about your rules, so it picks up the reasoning behind your clicks, judgment calls and all.
Say your morning ritual is opening the same three sites, skimming for anything about your work, and dropping the good links in a note.
Record that once, answer the questions, and the whole loop becomes a skill that runs itself.
Set it for 7am and the finished note is sitting there waiting when you wake up, all done while you slept.
Both apps can do this now, though Claude only added it in late July.
And the menus sit in slightly different spots on each, so take any feature-by-feature comparison as a snapshot worth re-checking, because these gaps close fast.
The scheduling itself works on both.
My take
None of this is really about the tech, which mostly just works now. The tricky bit is spotting the task in the first place.
The jobs worth handing off are the ones you repeat so often they've stopped looking like jobs, the stuff you run on autopilot.
That's why they slip past you.
Everyone's chasing better prompts, but the actual win is duller and a bit more human.
You catch yourself doing the same tiny thing for the third time this week, and you decide it never touches your hands again.
